I looked throughout the internet to find heroes that would best fit this assignment. After searching for a while I could not find any ideas that would satisfy the assignments importance. Suddenly, the idea hit me; I am going to recognize those whom I do not know personally. Those whom do not know me either, but fight everyday to keep me safe. Our warriors, our saviors; the soldiers in Iraq. These heroes fight for their country, and their country's people. These warriors do not know each and every one of whom they are saving, yet they go into the war to protect us all. Whether our aspects on the war are positive or negative, these people, these warriors of peace still fight their way through fire and gunshots just to protect us. It is time we recognize these people, because as soldiers they have recognized the importance of not just life, but our lives.
The war in Iraq has began its fifth year. Soldiers have died, some have been wounded, and some new warriors are being put into battle. 20,000 US soldiers are being put into the region to begin the project of a new security plan. 20,000 soldiers are having their lives put at stake for the sake of other people.
Its time we recognize our warriors; its time that we recognize the severity of this world and its flaws. We cannot hide this war from its children, and we sure as hell cannot forget its soldiers. The only reason almost all of us are alive, its because those soldiers, those saviors are risking their lives to protect us. Lists of heroes of this tragic war are posted on the Iraq War of www.cnn.com.
“Our admiration is so given to dead martyrs that we have little time for living heroes.” - Elbert Hubbard
It's time we take more time for our living heroes.
With all of the articles I read and pictures I have seen, I can see the sadness in the soldiers eyes. The longing feeling to come home and hold the ones that they hold near and dear to them. Though I cannot understand that feeling, I can see within their eyes and within their tears the sadness they carry.
